It is quite a bit thicker than a size 8 pearl cotton (closer to size 5) and works best on 10 or 11 count aida cloth or waste canvas.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI personally dye all of the embroidery thread I sell in small batches using natural dyes such as madder root (traditionally used by Palestinian women before the introduction of synthetic dyes), logwood, turmeric, and more. The pictures display two examples, but each set is unique and may not be exactly the same.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eNote on botanical dyes:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNatural dyes are not the same as synthetic dyes. While I use a mordant as a fixative for most dyes, botanical dyes, by nature, will likely fade or change over time. I use botanical dyes on all threads and all aida cloth colors, with the exception of black and white.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCare Instructions:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI recommend using botanically dyed thread on projects that will not be worn (e.g. framed pieces) if you are concerned about light and wash fastness. If you do need to wash your piece, hand wash in cold water with a small amount of gentle detergent or shampoo.
