Launching A Monthly Tatreez Circle
Wednesday, January 8th, 2025
I just got back from watching "From Ground Zero" at my local theater tonight. Each short film was so deeply moving and personal—it was such a different experience from watching events unfold in short clips on social media. A year ago, I never would have imagined watching a film about Palestine, by Palestinians, in a mainstream theater in my lifetime. Please support the filmmakers by attending a showing near you and spreading the word.
Then again, I never would have imagined things would get to the point we're at now.
Each film was also infused with so much creativity and artistic talent, reminding me of the role of the artist in such times, and the importance of art as a collective activity rather than an individualistic endeavor.
On that note, I'd like to invite you to join our first ever Tatreez Circle here in so-called "Phoenix, AZ" on Sunday, January 26th at 2:30pm.
Bring a current project or purchase a kit to work on while sipping tea and spending time with tatreez practitioners of all levels.
These monthly tatreez circles are designed to be a healing space to connect with Palestinian culture, engage in meaningful conversations, and support each other through the ups and downs of life - much like it was originally practiced. Joining a tatreez circle is a chance to slow down and break away from productivity culture.
Each month will have a designated theme to gently prompt our discussions. This month's theme will be centered on the following question: "How do we cultivate community care in our day to day lives?"
Tea and cookies will also be provided.
I hope to see you there!
